Saturday morning we woke up early to a sick puppy dog. The likely culprit being the 3 snickerdoodles he ate on Friday night. Ooops.. We had a very lazy morning but made it to the gym and the Farmer’s Market all before noon. I consider it a success :).
Huddy did a lot of this:
..while Jake and I ate breakfast in bed:
..and finished The Princess and the Frog : ).
The morning started out with a disappointment because I couldn’t find my headphones anywhere. I planned to go to the gym first thing but the whole morning was thrown off due to sick Huddy and the headphone mishap. It turned out to be an enjoyable lazy start to the day and Jake and I were able to work out “together” while doing a crossfit workout at the gym. I also found my headphones tucked into my weight training shoes, good thing I needed to wear them or I may have been music-less for a few days!
It was Friday’s WOD (Workout of the Day) and it looked like this:
(5 minute incline walk warmup)
20 Calorie Row (the rowers at my gym don’t calculate calories so I just rowed about 350 meters)
30 Wallball Shots (no balls so we did thrusters – 1o pound dumbbells for me)
20 Toes to Bar (so hard..I did 1o then supplemented with bicycles and mountain climbers on the stability ball to work the lower abs more)
30 Box Jumps
20 Sumo Deadlift High Pull, 12 pound dumbbells (could have done more weight)
20 Shoulder to Overhead, 10 pound dumbells
(5 minute run 7.5 mph, 3 minute incline walk at 6.5 and 4.0mph)
Including warmup and cool down this only took us about 30 minutes and we were S-W-E-A-T-Y. While I showered up, Jake made a delicious and nutritious protein smoothie. We LOVE smoothies.
The afternoon was spent back at home. Jake took a nap and I watched Uptown Girls with Dakota Fanning and Britney Murphy – such a cute movie. For dinner we went to Eric’s house to have a BBQ with Eric and Lisa. We enjoyed tons of good food before heading to the Bachelorette Pad for dessert and a game night. Although we didn’t end up playing games, we had a great time with our friends. The Isfelds came and we spent most of our time hanging out with them. I even got these cute cute pictures of Riley!
Kori started a blog over at www.readysetnowdoit.wordpress.com. Check it out for some killer workouts and thoughts on health and fitness!
We chilled on Sunday. I slept 10 hours and woke up at 9. We drank coffee, read, and had a big scramble breakfast while watching a documentary on the Middle Ages.
Jake wants to get a king size bed (realistically we could use the space) so we went to Parklane Mattresses to do some research. Their mattresses are all made in Oregon! Gotta love supporting local businesses. No purchases were made just yet so we can wait out potential sales in the coming months. I’ll brag about the amazing sleep I get when we do land a new bed!
Costco and the park with Matt and Eric were the next activities of the day. The boys threw the football and I practiced my gymnastics, Huddy just ran around and tried to stay in the shade. I got scared that I had lost my backhandspring, a trick I’ve done for 20 years, but I was relieved to find I could still do them! Now if only I could get my back tuck back…
Finally, we were off to church for the 6pm service where Mike McDonald knocked our socks off. He was teaching on 1 Corinthians 15:22-34 which discusses God’s lordship over his people, at least in part. At the end of the sermon, which you can podcast (search Solid Rock: A Jesus Church), Mike asked 3 questions:
1) Are you living FOR the future (with a hope of heaven) or IN LIGHT OF the future (bringing heaven to earth)?
2) Are you subjecting yourself to the lordship of Jesus?
3) Are you watching with who or what you are keeping company?
There have been times in my walk with Jesus when the big question in my life was number 3. I had let things seep into my life that were not productive or promoting godliness. Right now my big questions are 1 and 2. I try really hard to live in light of the future and ensure that every day I am keeping my eyes open to the works God has created for me to walk in, living with a sensitivity to the Spirit’s direction for me. BUT this is something I ought to be more intentional about each day. I love question number 2. It’s so raw and reminds me of Galatians 2:20 “For I have been crucified with Christ and it is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me. The life I live in the body I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Every morning I need to take up my cross and follow after Him, wherever He may lead!
I wore this outfit to church:
[[Necklace – F21 (the bday gift), Dress – Calvin Klein via Costco ($20!!), Wedges – Eric Michael via Nordstrom Rack ($40)]]
And realized too late that my arm position was not the most flattering. Still working on my modeling skillz.
After the service was over, a group of our friends ate “The Burger Thing” on the lawn at church. Jake and I cruised home and ended the night watching The Next Food Network Star. The finale is next week! Can’t wait.
Woke up around 5:40 this morning to do some cardio/treadmill running! I’m starting to get the hang of the early morning workout thing but I am still dreary-eyed when I walk into the gym. The girl actually said to me this morning “WAKE UP!” as I rubbed my eyes and said hello. She followed it up by saying “Habit becomes Habitat” which I thought was catchy and so valid. I’ve seen this to be true with things like reading my Bible each morning, eating right, exercising, being CLEAN, organization, etc. Habitual behaviors become a way of life!!

HIIT me baby, one more time! Love the negative splits on this HIIT workout. I ended up covering 5 miles almost exactly this morning and it felt glorious. Interval workouts make it easy for me to increase distance/calorie burn and who doesn’t love that?
Signing off for the day! I hope you enjoyed the smorgasbord of topics!
